Victoria well represented in this year's awards
It's that time of year, again. Time to recognise great achievements by great Australians.
The National Australia Day Council has announced the State and Territory Award recipients who are in the running for the 2018 Australian of the Year Awards, which will be presented at Parliament House in Canberra on the evening of 25 January 2018.
There are 32 people vying for the four Award titles:
· 2018 Australian of the Year
· 2018 Senior Australian of the Year
· 2018 Young Australian of the Year
· 2018 Australia’s Local Hero
According to National Australia Day Council CEO, Ms Jenny Barbour, the recipients were inspiring people representing the many facets of Australian society.
“The 32 State and Territory recipients are all deserving of our thanks and our admiration. They represent what makes our nation great. From these amazing people, we will draw our next four Australians of the Year.”
Sam Johnson, 2018 Australian of the Year for Victoria, chose this wire unicycle made by sister Connie as his most treasured object now on display at NMA. "She always saw a way , no matter how big the dream. That's what I will miss the most, '' Sam reckons. @loveyoursister pic.twitter.com/iNlYWeN0uh— Megan Doherty (@MeganDohertyCT) December 14, 2017
