John Butler's East Gippsland gig more than two thirds sold
JOHN BUTLER .. PETE MURRAY .. JOSH CASHMAN
Tickets for Live on the Hill went on sale just three weeks ago and it is already more than two-thirds sold.
The live outdoor concert at the Wy Yung Pub on March 16 features Aussie international band John Butler Trio, as well as Pete Murray and Gippsland's own Josh Cashman.
There'll also be a pre-show performance by local band Barrie Jessep and the Vibe.
Antony Hilf says Bairnsdale locals need to get in quick or they'll miss out.
"It's been pretty full-on. Tickets have been on sale for three weeks now and more than 2,300 have sold, so only 800 to go.
"Surprisingly they've actually come from down in the Valley. About 70 percent of the sales have been from Sale and Traralgon.
"We're pretty confident the event's going to sell out.
"Most of the [Wy Yung Pub] regulars are probably thinking it's my regular pub, I can just rock up .. but some people might miss out."
This is John Butler's first time in the region.
"First time east of Melbourne for a public gig.
"These guys have been touring the world. They're known everywhere and for a bunch of Aussies, they're a big deal. And a very big deal for East Gippsland, that's for sure."
Hilf says East Gippsland will see Butler's new show before his band kicks off a national tour.
"John Butler Trio is recording a new album and what's pretty awesome about Live on the Hill is we've got them for a two hour set, which is pretty unusual for these guys, normally an hour and a half.
"We should have the new album and all their classics."
