The Mystery Morwell Millionaire finally comes forward

A Morwell man has started his week on a high after finally discovering he had won division one in a TattsLotto draw three weeks ago, making him more than $1.3 million richer!

The man’s registered entry was one of the 15 division one winning entries across Australia in TattsLotto’s $20 Million Superdraw, draw 3827 on 24 March 2018. Each division one winning entry took home $1,333,333.34.

Despite the entry being registered to a Tatts Card, Tatts officials had been unable to make contact with the winner until today.

The happy winner confessed he had gone away to celebrate Easter and had no idea he had won until his son checked his ticket for him.

“It was rather strange because I was going away for Easter, and I had forgot to put my TattsLotto on for the next few weeks, which is when I would have checked this winning ticket,” the winner explained.

“So I had texted my son an old coupon and asked him if he could put those numbers on for the Saturday's I was away!

“And that's when he checked my tickets and they said it had won a big prize.

“He called me and said, ‘the guy said you’ve won a prize, a big one’ – so that felt rather strange!”

When asked how he planned to use his win, the thrilled man confessed he had some ideas, and only wished he had won years ago.

“My main goal is to preserve it so my kids get it as an inheritance,” he shared.

“I’ll be able to solve their problems and find somewhere nice to live so that it can appreciate.

“If I had peered into the future and seen this win I could have retired five years ago!”

The regular player revealed how he chose his winning numbers.

“I have used the same numbers since 1983,” the winning man explained.

“The first numbers are based off my family’s birthdays and then after that, I just used intuition to pick the numbers for the second game.

“For each additional game I just kept adding one number to each line to keep the same pattern.”

The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning marked 12 game entry at Sims IGA Supermarket, 511 Barkley Street, Footscray West.
